Lucky bamboo caring tips
A healthy, strong lucky bamboo is easy to care for, which should be with green leaves, hard stem, rich roots system.
Watering: Spring water, distilled water or well water can be fed lucky bamboo directly, tap water or rain water should be filtered or be stood before feeding. Always keep water level at least 2-3cm (1-2inch) over roots. Sometimes 2-3 drops of lemon juice is good for lucky bamboo trees. Change different type of water to feed the plant, for example: you can use rain water first but spring water next time.
Lighting:
Strong direct sunlight will burn leaves if the surface of leaves temperature is over 30 degrees C, it's better to keep lucky bamboo plants indoor or under knitted netting for outdoor growing. Dark place is good for generating new roots, a non transparent container is your first choice to grow lucky bamboo by watering.
Food:
Add 3-4 pills of Control Release Fertilizer every two months, CRF is a good food to help the plant growing new roots and stronger than just feed water and will not too salt to the plant.
Pots, Vase, Glass Container, Pebbles, Stones: These containers are good for lucky bamboo growing in the water. choose dark color pebbles or stones to fix the plants, lucky bamboo roots love to live in dark place where are less algae can live. Using bigger, irregular shape pebbles can help roots breath.
Cutting, Trimming:
You can cut a bamboo stalks for reproduction, for a new arrangement, for new shoots or cut a shoot if it's too long. You can also trim yellowing leaves in order to stop it expand. Below are 5 tips of cutting a bamboo stalk:
1. Clean the bamboo stalks and the cutting tools (garden scissors or kitchen knife) to avoid bacteria infected when cutting, and make sure the cutting tools are sharp.
2. In order to get a beautiful look, cut the stalk in a position about 3/4 inch to the joint, new shoot often sprout from this joint. this side is always the top tip of the plant (marked in black color). Bottom tip can be any position and roots also come out from the circle of cutting edge.
3. Put the bamboo stalks in a shaded area for about half to one hour until the cutting area is dry.
4. Put the bamboo into water with reasonable dosage of rooting & thrive hormones to encourage new shoots and roots, the treatment will last 1 more day.
5. Change all water after treatment, add new water to wait the bamboo growing.

Repotting:
Take out of the bamboo plant from the old pot, wash the plant with clean water, take off the dead roots and the old leaves, add water into new pot, put the plant into the pot.
Washing: It is best to wash away the dust which covers the leaves, as it will affect the plant’s photosynthesis. Lucky bamboo cannot be placed in direct sunlight, as it will make the leaves turning yellow. To wash all roots and take off some dead ones before putting lucky bamboo into water. Do not worry; the root system will generate new roots very soon.
